Interested in Starting a Breathmobile in your community or at your hospital?

Starting a Breathmobile requires a significant financial and time commitment. The start-up cost of a Breathmobile including salaries can cost upwards of $500,000 for the first year which includes the purchase of a state of the art RV that has been outfitted to house all the accoutrements of an actually doctors office. After the first year, operating costs typically range from $250,000 to $350,000 depending on the staffing model selected.

The preferred staffing model consists of a dedicated health care team including:

  1. Asthma Specialist Provider (physician or nurse practitioner)

  2. Registered Nurse

  3. Respiratory Therapist (or two registered nurses)

  4. Financial Worker

The Breathmobile has historically relied on philanthropic support and grants to sustain itself, however it is paramount that sites that desire to implement a Breathmobile make the decision from the beginning to make the program a part of their annual operating budget or have already secured long-term funding for the next 3-5 years that isn’t reliant upon any other sources of external funding to maintain consistency in operations.
